Consumers in Illinois can now access physical therapy without physician prescription
Vitality Women's Physical Therapy & Wellness in Elmhurst is celebrating today as Governor Rauner signed HB4643 amending the Illinois physical therapy act to eliminate referral requirements. This will allow the public direct access to physical therapists, without the need to first obtain a physician prescription. Illinois is the 45th state to adopt direct access to physical therapy. This measure is expected to reduce overall healthcare costs, as it has done in other states with similar legislation.
