Wallet Theft, Fainting Man: Elmhurst Cops

A wallet was stolen from a woman's purse at a local grocery store, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving wallet theft, fainting, harassment, damage, disorderly conduct, retail theft and illegal dumping. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Wallet theft

  • A woman told police that her wallet was stolen from her purse between 2:45 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. at Jewel, 153 E. Schiller St. Her wallet contained her driver's license.

  • A man told police about 9 p.m. Friday that he fainted and hit his head on the pavement in an alley in the 100 block of West Park Avenue. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

Harassment

  • A resident in the 400 block of North West Avenue told police Friday that she received several harassing calls from her ex-husband. An officer was unable to contact the suspect. An investigation is pending.

  • Someone turned on a water hose and damaged two lawn decorations Saturday in the 600 block of West Gladys Avenue.

Disorderly conduct

  • A man was yelling and banging on walls about 6 a.m. Sunday at Clarion Inn, 933 S. Riverside Drive. He was served with a no-trespass notice and escorted off the property.

Retail theft

  • Two men stole a cart full of alcohol about 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Jewel, 153 E. Schiller St. They left the cart after they noticed an employee watching them. One man was described as black, in his 50s, 6-foot-1, and wearing a dark coat and jeans. The second was described as black, in his 30s, 5-foot-8, and wearing a black and white jacket. The store sustained no loss.
  • A man stole merchandise about 11:30 a.m. Sunday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. He was described as white and wearing a green Chicago Bears hoodie, gray camouflage pants, a black face mask, black boots and a dark cap with white lettering on it.

Illegal dumping

  • Someone placed four trash bags in a dumpster at the apartment complex at 166 E. Elmhurst Ave. The person was not believed to be a resident of the complex. An investigation is pending.

Drunk person on the ground

  • A drunk person was on the ground about 2 a.m. Monday at Schiller Street and Robert Palmer Drive. The person was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
