It’s certainly no exaggeration to say that stress is a major problem for most people. When one thinks of stress, they tend to think of internalized stress, such as the worry you feel if you think you won’t be able to pick up your child on time or when you oversleep for an important meeting. However, one element of stress that is often overlooked is the stress that outside forces put on our bodies. These are things like air, water, and noise pollution, pesticides, and crowded areas. A simple way to reduce chemical stress is to remove some of the most common stressors, i.e. your common household cleaning supplies.
Cleaning supplies that are often on shopping lists, such as dish and laundry detergent, shampoo, and window cleaner, may contain toxic chemicals. Using natural cleaners can not only help reduce chemical stress, but can also save you some money as well! A great way to start is by using vinegar and hydrogen peroxide to clean off your countertops. Spray the counters with vinegar first, follow it with the peroxide, and then wipe them down – it’s as easy as that!
Vinegar is actually a great cleaner all around: window cleaner can be created using one part white vinegar with four parts water and your bathtub grime can be removed by spraying pure white vinegar onto the mildew-y area and letting it sit for half an hour. After that, all you have to do is scrub it off with a sponge and warm water. Simple!
These are just a few tips for natural cleaning – start reducing your chemical stress today!
