Who Am I; and What Am I Trying To Do?

                I wanted to take a moment on my inaugural blog here, on The Patch, and just introduce myself, and my goal for the blog. My name is Horatio Black. The name comes from a radio and B-movie character from the 1940’s called ‘Boston Blackie.’ Blackie was a master crook, who decided to become a good guy, and help out the police. His main foil for his comedy and—in some ways—an archenemy professionally was police Inspector Faraday. In the movie “Meet Boston Blackie,” Faraday tells one of his officers, that Blackie’s real name is Horatio Black.

          I am not writing this to claim I am a pro at the writing business. On the contrary, I admit I have many things to learn, and am enjoying the learning process. I am writing this, because I want to pass long some great ideas I have learned, about how to write and where and how to market your writings. Plus talk about whatever else I find interesting and exciting. I will try and steer away from the political debates, and entries on religion, because I feel this is not the right forum, and I want to keep this positive for everyone.

I am anxious, to hear from others out there, who have written and gotten published. What are the things, and ideas, you find that worked, and—more importantly—what didn’t.

          I just published my first book, and you can check it out and order it through my website, www.horatioblack.com. It’s called “Harriett Truelove, The Amanda Kristoff Case.” Harriett is a private investigator who was asked to find an 8 year-old girl who was kidnapped, then the police and feds walk away from the case.

          So please, get involved, I want to make the world of writing better for anyone who wants to try and market their work, or even just writing for fun.
