Widow Of Worker Killed In Elmhurst Receives $5.9 Million Settlement

Green was killed in 2011 by a truck making a sharp right turn from York onto Lake.

ELMHURST, IL — The widow of a man killed while working in a construction zone in Elmhurst in 2011 will receive a $5.9 million settlement. According to reports, Daniel Green, 38, of Wisconsin, was an electrician working in September 2011 near York Road and Lake Street when he was struck and killed by a truck.

CBS reported that Green was killed by a truck making a sharp right turn from York onto Lake. Green's widow, Mary Kriete-Green, filed a wrongful death lawsuit. Her attorneys, Cavanagh Law Group, alleged that required safety barricades and drums were not properly placed.

According to CBS, the death suit alleged that the trucking company, the general contractor and subcontractors were responsible for Green's death.

The trial was supposed to begin on Oct. 10, but the $5.9 million settlement was approved Oct. 5.
