Woman In Pond, McDonald's DUI: Elmhurst Cops
An elderly woman was found standing in a pond, police said. Then officers learned her story.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a woman standing in a pond, a DUI, loud noise, a chronic nuisance, porch piracy, a domestic disturbance and a fugitive driver. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Woman in pond
- An elderly woman was found about 8 a.m. Tuesday standing in a retention pond in the 100 block of North Caroline Avenue. She appeared to be lost and confused. Police learned that she had left the Concord Place Retirement Community in Northlake. She was taken to the hospital.
DUI

- A 33-year-old Bensenville man was arrested about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at McDonald's, 920 N. York St., on charges of DUI and possession of open alcohol. Police said the man was found sleeping in his Volkswagen Jetta at the entrance to McDonald's. He was released.
Loud noise
- A 29-year-old man who lives in the 100 block of North Willow Road in Elmhurst was cited about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at his home on a charge of disorderly conduct (loud noise). Police said the man was drunk and yelling.

- Police issued a chronic nuisance warning Monday to a household in the 400 block of West Avenue.
Porch piracy
- Doorbell camera footage shows a man stealing a package from a doorstep and leaving in a dark SUV about 1:15 a.m. Jan. 5 in the 200 block of East Gladys Avenue. The incident was reported three days later. The man was described as white, 20 to 30, and wearing a backward-facing baseball cap, a dark hooded sweatshirt with white writing on the front and black pants.
Domestic disturbance
- An officer responded to a domestic disturbance shortly before midnight Monday at the Elmhurst 255 apartment complex, 255 N. Addison Ave. A person told police that an argument turned physical. The other person left in an Uber before officers arrived. The officer was unable to contact the other person.
Fugitive driver
- An officer tried to stop the driver of a Mercedes-Benz S560 for an expired registration about 8:30 p.m. Monday at Adam and Spring. The driver sped away.
