Woman Stalked While Outside Elmhurst Home: Police

The woman's order of protection against the person had expired, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – In recent days, Elmhurst police responded to incidents involving stalking, a virus scam, a drunk person, a found bicycle, an order of protection and a fugitive driver. Here is information from the latest reports:

Stalking

  • A resident in the 100 block of North Michigan Street told police that a person was stalking her while she was sitting outside her apartment about 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The resident had an expired order of protection against the person. She was advised to get a new one.

  • A resident in the 200 block of South Chandler Avenue told police Saturday that she received a virus alert on her computer with a phone number to call. She called and spoke to someone who asked for payment to fix her computer. She was instructed to withdraw money from her bank account and deposit it into a bitcoin ATM. The woman complied.

Order of protection

  • A resident in the 300 block of South Boyd Avenue was served an order of protection Friday.

Drunk person

  • A person was found sleeping and drunk about 8:30 a.m. Sunday near the police station, 125 E. First St. The person was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

Bicycle found

  • A black and red Tanmei New Speed men's bicycle was found about 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the 200 block of West St. Charles Road. The bike was placed into evidence for safekeeping.

Fugitive driver

  • An officer tried to stop a speeding driver about 4 a.m. Monday at Roosevelt Road and Interstate 290. The driver failed to stop and headed east on Interstate 290. The driver's car, a gray Chrysler 300, was previously seen leaving an apartment complex in Oakbrook Terrace.
