After leaving the store, the women got into a BMW and drove away, prosecutors said. An officer responding to the area found the BMW, seeing Stewart turn against a one-way-only sign near 22nd Street and Midwest Road, police said.
After the office activated his emergency lights, Stewart increased her speed to about 70 mph, weaved erratically on 22nd Street and drove on the median at one point to pass cars at a stoplight, prosecutors said.

She finally came to a stop after hitting two other cars, police said.
"Our officers and loss prevention did a fantastic job. Unfortunately, this is a daily occurrence; however, the positive is our officers and the business community continue to improve our tactics and communication," Oak Brook Deputy Police Chief Reid Foltyniewicz said in a statement.
DuPage County Judge Joshua Dieden denied the state's request to keep the women in jail until trial.
