Woman's Money Stolen At Elmhurst Bar: Cops
In another case, a woman in a stolen car tried to flee from officers, but her tires deflated, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving theft, burglary, aggravated fleeing, drug possession, fraud and trespassing. Here is information from the latest reports:
Theft
- A woman told police that someone stole money from her purse when it was unattended about 11 p.m. Saturday at Fitz's Pub, 172 N. Addison Ave. An investigation is pending.
- An unlocked bicycle was stolen about 7 p.m. Tuesday outside Dunkin' Donuts, 936 N. York St.
- A portable Wi-Fi device was stolen overnight April 16 from a truck in the 700 block of North Larch Avenue. The theft was reported five days later. An investigation is pending.

- Joanna Castiglia, 47, of Wheaton, was arrested Tuesday on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, aggravated fleeing and eluding, driving with a suspended driver's license and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said they tried to stop Castiglia about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at North Avenue and York Street, but she drove away. But officers caught up with her because her tires deflated. She was wanted on warrants from DuPage and Cook counties. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Burglary
- Christian Soto-Medina, 34, of Chicago, was arrested about 6 p.m. Wednesday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83, on charges of burglary, retail theft, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and resisting a police officer. Police said he was found with stolen merchandise. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Drug possession

- A 22-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 10 a.m. Wednesday at North and Highland avenues on charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and marijuana possession. He was released.
- A 49-year-old Bellwood man was arrested about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Route 83 and Interstate 290 on two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, no valid registration and driving an uninsured car. In the same stop, a 62-year-old Chicago man was arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing identification. They were taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Suspicious
- Officers responded to an alarm call about 1:30 p.m. Monday at a house in the 400 block of South Hampshire Avenue. They found the back sliding door to have a small outward bend, but no pry or scratch marks. The resident was out of town and gave officers consent to search the house. Nothing appeared to be out of place.
Fugitive driver
- About 10:30 p.m. Monday, an officer tried to stop the driver of a red Chevrolet Equinox at York Street and North End Avenue for a suspended registration. The driver sped away, last seen heading east on Interstate 290.
Fraud
- Napleton Kia, 727 W. Grand Ave., told police Wednesday that someone fraudulently bought two cars from the dealership in the last few months. The cars were discovered to have been used in a retail theft in another town. An investigation is pending.
Trespassing
- A man has stayed at Courtyard by Marriott, 370 N. Route 83, before, but he always causes problems, according to the hotel. On Wednesday, the hotel asked for the man to be given a no-trespass notice. An officer was unsuccessful in trying to contact the man.
