Woman's Stun Gun Gets Elmhurst Police's Attention: Cops

ELMHURST, IL — An Elmhurst resident was charging her Taser-style stun gun Sunday when it began smoking, so she called 911 to get the fire department's help, police said.

The incident occurred about 11 a.m. in the 400 block of North Van Auken Street, police said. The woman did not possess a firearm owner's identification, or FOID, card, which is required for ownership of a Taser-style stun gun, police said.

The woman's stun gun was placed into evidence for destruction.
