York Student Awarded Scholarship From Ferrara Candy Company

Conversa is planning to attend Purdue University and major in computer science.

ELMHURST, IL — A York student has received a $5,000 scholarship from Ferrara Candy Company. Domenic Conversa is one of 10 recipients of the merit-based Ferrara USA Scholarship for children of Ferrara employees, according a release from the company.

Conversa is planning to attend Purdue University and major in computer science. The Ferrara USA Scholarship Program awarded scholarships based on merit to children of full-time Ferrara Candy Company domestic employees, below VP level, who have a minimum of six months employment with the company as of the application deadline, according to a release. High school seniors, graduates or current postsecondary undergraduates were eligible.

The recipients were chosen through Scholarship America, a third-party organization that reviewed each applicant’s participation in community and school activities, work experience, statement of career and educational goals and objectives, outside appraisal, an essay response and academic performance.

“The Ferrara USA Scholarship program demonstrates Ferrara’s commitment to investing in the future success of its employees’ children by providing opportunity for personal advancement that may not otherwise be available,” Mike Goldwasser, Ferrara’s Chief Human Resources Officer, said in a release. “With the rising cost of secondary education and the increased competition for grants and other forms of aid, we’re proud to create a program that supports the decision to pursue college specifically for Ferrara employees and their families.”
