Youths Steal Car From Villa Park Repair Shop: Prosecutors

An officer noticed a crashed car in front of the repair shop, police said.

VILLA PARK, IL – Two Chicago youths are suspected in the theft of a car from a Villa Park auto repair shop, prosecutors said Tuesday.

On Saturday, a Villa Park police officer saw a crashed car in the parking lot at Anthony's Collision Center, 165 E. North Avenue, according to a news release from the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office.

While the officer was at the shop, Chicago police called Villa Park police about a 2021 Kia SUV stolen in Villa Park. The driver of the Kia was stopped on Chicago's west side, police said.

While speeding away from a Bellwood police officer, the youths and others traveled in a stolen car to Anthony's, according to the news release. Once there, they got out of the stolen car.

They then broke into another car on the lot and crashed that car into the one they arrived in, police said. All of them entered the 2021 Kia and left, the release said.

The youths were arrested after running away during a stop on Chicago's west side, police said. They were charged with felony possession of a stolen vehicle.

The state's attorney's office said an investigation into the matter continues.
