2 Men Fatally Shot In Evanston In Deadly Weekend
Police suspect gunmen killed Andrew Williams Sunday in retaliation for the fatal shooting of Deashawn Turner less than 40 hours earlier.

EVANSTON, IL — Two men were fatally shot at neighboring homes in Evanston over the weekend. Police said the homicides of both men may be related, describing the second killing as "possibly retaliatory."
A 911 call came in around 12:15 a.m. Saturday to report someone had been shot at a house in the 2200 block of Emerson Street, according to police. Officers found a man shot in the arm and chest.
Deshawn Turner, 21, was taken to Evanston Hospital and pronounced dead shortly before 12:45 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. Police believe he was staying with a family member at the time of the shooting.

Andrew Williams, 29, was on the sidewalk outside his home, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said. Officers began to perform first aid until Evanston Fire Department paramedics arrived and rushed him to the hospital. Williams was pronounced dead at Evanston Hospital shortly after 3:30 p.m., according to the medical examiner's office.
Two masked gunmen got out of a car, shot Williams and fled, witnesses told investigators, who believe his killing may have come as retaliation for Turner's shooting. No further descriptions of the shooters or their vehicle were available as of Monday morning.
Records show Williams lived next door to the house where Turner was killed, but detectives have not determined whether they had ever met.
Sgt. Ken Carter said investigators are trying to figure out whether the shootings stemmed from a dispute between rival street gangs.
"It has not been determined whether there was a prior relationship between the two victims or if they knew each other," Carter said.
After recording no murders for the first half of the year, Evanston has seen three killings in four days. The last time the city has recorded more than three homicides in a year was 2010, according to FBI data.
