2 Robberies; 2 Stolen Vehicles; Gunfire Hits Parked Car: Blotter

EVANSTON, IL — The following information comes from the Evanston Police Department as a record of those arrested by police and incidents reported to police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges, which represent merely accusations by the state, are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. All persons named are innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS

CAR BURGLARIES

• Someone stole sunglasses and a cell phone from a Jeep that had been left unlocked in the 1800 block of Maple Avenue on the night of July 31.
• Someone stole parts from a Subaru parked in the 400 block of Darrow Avenue on the night of Aug. 1.
• Someone broke a passenger side window and stole a purse and laptop from a BMW parked in the 100 block of Greenleaf Street between 10 p.m. on Aug. 8 and 7 a.m. on Aug. 9.
• Someone stole a purse and wallet from an unlocked Toyota in the 1100 block of Dobson Street between 4 and 5 p.m. on Aug. 9.
• Someone stole tools through an open door of a GMC parked in the 1900 block of Green Bay Road around 9 a.m. on Aug. 11.

SHOTS FIRED
Gunfire was reported in the 100 block of Elmwood Avenue around 9:48 p.m. on Aug. 5. A bullet hole was later found in a Nissan parked on the street.

LOCKER THEFTS

• Someone stole a purse from a locked locker at a health club in the 1000 block of Grove Street between 9:45 and 11:15 a.m. on Aug. 4.
• Someone stole a wallet with a money clip from a locked locker at a health club in the 1000 block of Grove Street around 2:18 p.m. on Aug. 6.

HOME/GARAGE BURGLARIES

• Someone broke into a storage area at an apartment building in the 600 block of Custer Avenue and stole a Trek bicycle sometime between July 24 and Aug. 4.
• Someone got into a garage in the 600 block of Judson Avenue through an unlocked door and stole a Trek bicycle, cash, cards and gardening equipment.
• Someone cut the window screen of an apartment in the 800 block of Forest Avenue between 8:45 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 9.
• Someone got into a single-family home in the 900 block of Edgemere Court through an unlocked door and stole a purse from inside around 12:31 a.m. on Aug. 11.
• Someone tried to break into a single-family home in 1100 block of Lake Shore Boulevard by damaging a screen between Aug. 3 and Aug. 10.
• Someone stole a bicycle from a locked storage facility in the 1600 block of Maple Avenue between Aug. 1 and 11.
• Someone broke a window and got into a garage between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 13 in the 2400 block of Lake Street but nothing was reported stolen.

STOLEN CARS

• A silver Chevy pickup was stolen from the 400 block of Sherman Avenue between 9 and 10:36 p.m. on Aug. 10.
• A black Mercedes was stolen from the area of Sheridan Road and Church Street around 4 p.m. on Aug. 12

ROBBERIES

• Someone grabbed a person's cellphone while at the parking spaces of an apartment building in the 1600 block of Foster Street around 8:45 p.m. on Aug. 10.
• A known person struck a victim on the head while at a park in the 900 block of McDaniel Avenue shortly before 8 p.m. on Aug. 13. A purse and wallet was reported stolen.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Josean A. Rios, 20, of the 5300 block of Mulford Street in Skokie, was arrested around 7 p.m. on Aug. 1 at the Evanston Police Department and charged with domestic battery.

Jeffrey Velez-Rivera, 38, no home address, was arrested at 10:09 p.m. on Aug. 1 in the 300 block of Custer Avenue and charged with retail theft.

Angel N. Roman, 40, of the 7400 block of North Paulina Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 8 p.m. on Aug. 2 at the Evanston Police Department and charged with identity theft.

Darian D. Austin, 28, of the 1200 block of Simpson Street in Evanston, was arrested at 6:18 a.m. on Aug. 4 in the 2000 block of Ridge Avenue and charged with driving under the influence.

Katherine E. Anderson, 33, of the 1400 block of Somerset Avenue in Deerfield, was arrested at 9:13 a.m. on Aug. 4 and charged with retail theft at Panera Bread, 1700 Sherman Ave.

Avav Giflio, 24, of the 3400 block of Carmen Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 4:50 p.m. on Aug. 4 and charged with retail theft at the Whole Foods Market, 1640 Chicago Ave.

Bobby C. Hayes, 66, of the 500 block of East Seegers Road in Des Plaines, was arrested at 10:55 p.m. on Aug. 4 in the 1600 block of Davis Street and charged with driving under the influence.

Tylell T. Hogan, 22, of the 6500 block of North Ashland Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 11:03 p.m. on Aug. 4 in the 100 block of Callan Avenue and charged with domestic battery.

Sidney L. Morgan, 51, of the 3800 block of North Broadway Street in Chicago, was arrested at 12:21 p.m. on Aug. 4 in the 1300 block of Sherman Avenue and charged with battery.

Logan T. Upson, 36, of the 7500 block of North Claremont Street in Chicago, was arrested at 6:14 p.m. on Aug. 5 in the 2200 block of Oakton Street and charged with battery.

Zachary V. Ash, 39, of the 4500 block of North Sheridan Road in Chicago, was arrested at 12:55 a.m. on Aug. 6 in the 2300 block of Lake Street and charged with domestic battery.

Irena Bartosiak, 75, of the 0-100 block of Greenbriar Lane in Hawthorn Woods, was arrested at 7:15 p.m. on Aug. 6 in the 1400 block of Dodge Avenue and charged with driving under the influence.

Marsha J. Tucker, 47, of the 6300 block of North Oakley Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 1:13 p.m. on Aug 9 at the CVS Pharmacy, 101 Asbury Ave., and charged with retail theft.

Parker J. Cavalier, 22, of the 3600 block of Central Street in Evanston, and Natalia I. Duarte, 20, of the 9600 block of Kedvale Avenue in Skokie, were arrested shortly before 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 9 in the 1700 block of Oakton Street. Both were charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Sheila N. Richardson, 38, of the 200 block of Callan Avenue in Evanston, was arrested at 6:34 p.m. on Aug 10 in the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue and charged with battery.

Leonor Galindo, 48, of the 1600 block of Jonquil Terrace in Chicago, was arrested at 8:40 p.m. on Aug. 11 in the 3400 block of Howard Street and charged with driving under the influence.

Mary E. Garvey, 54, of the 600 block of Hinman Avenue in Evanston, was arrested at 11:34 p.m. on Aug. 12 and charged with driving under the influence.

Alexis Vega, 20, of the 1700 block of West Chase Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 3:24 a.m. on Aug. 13 and charged with driving under the influence.

Maurice Wade, 38, of the 1700 block of West Peterson Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 7:22 a.m. on Aug. 13 in the 600 block of Oakton Street and charged with burglary.
