Church Property Burglarized; Cars Stolen; Home Break-Ins: Blotter

Incidents and arrests from the Evanston Police Department blotter for July 18 to Aug. 1.

EVANSTON, IL — The following information comes from the Evanston Police Department as a record of those arrested by police and incidents reported to police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges, which represent merely accusations by the state, are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. All persons named are innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS

THEFT FROM CHURCH
Someone stole a lawnmower from a church in the 1800 block of Brown Avenue between 5 p.m. on July 16 and 8:39 a.m. on July 17 after cutting a padlock.

STOLEN CARS

  • Someone stole a black 1999 Toyota parked in the 700 block of Brummel Street sometime between July 10 and 17.
  • Someone tried to steal a 2014 Subaru parked in the 2600 block of Ridge Avenue, damaging its steering column, sometime between July 12 and July 18.
  • Someone stole a 2013 Nissan that had been left unlocked with a key inside while parked in the 800 block of Hamlin Street between 9:21 a.m. on July 19 and 9 a.m. on July 20.
  • Someone stole a 2000 Toyota that had been parked in the 1600 block of Washington Street between 10:15 p.m. on July 22 and 10:22 a.m. on July 23.
  • A white 2018 Chevy left unlocked with the keys inside was stolen from parking spaces of an apartment building the 1500 block of Howard Street between 5 p.m. on July 24 and 9 a.m. on July 25.
  • A black 2005 Honda was stolen between 6 and 7:45 a.m. on July 25 from a business parking lot int the 1600 block of Maple Avenue.

HOME BURGLARIES

  • Someone got into a home in the 600 block of Ridge Avenue between 1:30 and 3 p.m. on July 20 through an unlocked door, stealing a purse and its contents.
  • Someone got into a home in the 400 block of Dempster Street using a key and stole a laptop computer around 10:16 p.m.
  • Someone tried to break into a home in the 1200 block of Hinman Avenue between 1 and 5:30 a.m. on July 22, cutting the screens. Nothing was taken.
  • A bicycle was stolen from a residential garage in the 1300 block of Judson Avenue with an unlocked door- between 12 and 12:30 p.m. on July 22.
  • Someone got into an apartment in the 200 block of Ridge Avenue through an unlocked door between 5 a.m. and 7:25 p.m. on July 20, but nothing was reported stolen.
  • Someone stole a bicycle between 6 p.m. on July 19 and 7:46 p.m. on July 23 from a residential garage with an open door.
  • Stole stole a purse and a laptop from inside a single-family home in the 900 block of Wesley Avenue with a door left unlocked.

HOME BURGLARY/STOLEN CAR
Sometime between 12:30 and 7 a.m. on July 29, someone got into a single-family home in the 1200 block of Elmwood Avenue through an unlocked door and proceeded to steal a purse, which contained keys to a car parked in the garage. The car, a 2013 dark blue Volvo, was also reported stolen.

ATTEMPTED ROBBERY
Around 9:19 p.m. on July 31, someone entered a gas station in the 500 block of Howard Street and demanded money. Nothing was reported stolen.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Kenneth J. Williams, 55, of the 1900 block of Dewey Avenue in Evanston, was arrested at 7:35 p.m. on July 17 in the 1700 block of Howard Street and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Marco Huerta-Diaz, 28, of the 2700 block of West Arthur Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 9:44 p.m. on July 18 in the 0-100 block of North County Street and charged with battery.

Tanisha L. McGrone, 41, of the 1900 block of Dewey Avenue in Evanston, was arrested at 10:58 a.m. on July 19 at the Evanston Police Department and charged with theft.

Young G. Lee, 62, of the 2200 block of West Chase Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 10:10 p.m. on July 19 in the 500 block of Arnold Place and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Timothy D. Freeman, 52, of the 1400 block of Central Street in Evanston, was arrested at 6:25 p.m. on July 20 in the 1500 block of Central Street and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Riva E. McNamee, 44, of the 1900 block of Ashland Avenue in Evanston, was arrested at 1:31 a.m. on July 21 near the intersection of Foster Street and Darrow Avenue and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Anthony G. Munsey-Johnson, 18, of the 500 block of Custer Avenue in Evanston, was arrested at 1:55 p.m. on July 22 in the 700 block of Sheridan Road and charged with two counts of residential burglary.

Juan C. Ramirez, 57, of the 1000 block of Dodge Avenue in Evanston, was arrested at 1:21 a.m. on July 22 at his home and charged with driving under the influence.

Sidney Burrus, 56, of the 1500 block of West Fargo Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 6:42 p.m. on July 23 in the 3300 block of Howard Street and charged with retail theft.

Michael J. O'Donnell, 23, of the 5800 block of North Kilbourn Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at the Evanston Police Department and charged with aggravated battery in connection with a July 14 incident.

Kierra M. Jackson, 20, of the 1800 block of Main Street in Evanston, was arrested at 4:39 p.m. on July 26 in the 1600 block of Foster Street and charged with battery.

David J. Beske, 54, of the 6000 block of North Paulina Street in Chicago, was arrested at 1:11 a.m. on July 27 in the 1900 block of Dempster Street and charged with driving under the influence.

Marcus L. Printis, 34, of the 2000 block of Oakton Street in Evanston, was arrested at 5:09 a.m. on July 27 at his home address and charged with violating an active order of protection.

Craig L. Barton, 58, of the the 4900 block of Louise Street in Skokie, was arrested at 12:52 p.m. on July 28 in the 1900 block of Dempster Street and charged with possession of stolen property.

Ronald Johnson, 23, 0f the 1700 block of West 90th Place in Chicago, was arrested at 1:30 a.m. on July 29 in the 900 block of Sheridan Road and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Terry A. Shepherd, 27, of the 21100 block of West Farmington Road in Trivoli, was arrested at 5:31 a.m. on July 27 and charged with domestic battery.

Derrick McMath, 28, of the 11000 block of South 76th Avenue in Worth, was arrested at 5:33 p.m. on July 27 and charged with aggravated battery while at the Cook Count Jail.

Tamara T. Singleton, 42, of the 1500 block of Florence Avenue in Evanston, was arrested at 12:50 a.m. on July 27 near the intersection of Greenleaf Street and Asbury Avenue and charged with driving under the influence.

Samuel A. Thomas, 27, of the 1300 block of Brummel Ave in Evanston, was arrested at 10:02 p.m. on July 27 in the 300 block of Ridge Avenue and charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and cannabis delivery.

Jason C. Townsend, 27, of the 18600 block of Augusta Lane in Hazel Crest, was arrested at 4:03 p.m. on July 27 in the 1400 block of West 63rd Street in Chicago and charged with theft.

Robert M. Pukal, 54, of the 1500 block of Dempster Street in Evanston, was arrested at 11:16 p.m. on July 31 in the 300 block of Ridge Avenue and charged with aggravated battery.

Stetson P. Thomas, 29, of the 7300 block of North Winchester Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 12:02 p.m. on July 31 in the 1600 block of Sherman Avenue and charged with assault.

Kevin J. Robinson, 26, of the 1200 block of Darrow Avenue in Evanston, was arrested at 4:42 a.m. on Aug. 1 at his home and charged with domestic battery.
