Alleged Attempted Purse Snatcher Caught on Chicago Avenue
The Chicago man allegedly tried to steal an Evanston woman's purse as she was boarding a CTA train at Howard Street.

A Chicago man has been charged in the attempted theft of an Evanston woman’s purse as she was boarding a CTA train at the Howard Street station.
Kevin D. Stewart, 56 was charged with attempted theft, battery and criminal damage to property Wednesday afternoon after he was found by Evanston police in the 1000 block of Chicago Avenue, according to the Evanston Review.
Reports indicate the 50-year-old woman was getting on a train when Stewart allegedly pushed her shoulder and attempted to rip her blue canvass purple purse. The purse strap broke but nothing was stolen.
