EVANSTON, IL — Evanston/Skokie School District 65 has selected Alma Advisory Group to lead the search for its next superintendent, according to a message shared on behalf of the school board.
The selection is pending contract approval at an upcoming meeting. The board described the choice of a search firm as an early step in a major decision for the district.
Board members considered three firms during the process. Alma Advisory Group was selected because of its flexible and highly personalized approach, deep roots in Illinois, national reach and experience leading complex searches with community engagement, the board said.
The board said it is seeking "a generational leader" for District 65. That person should build on the district's strengths, advance academic excellence and outcomes for every student, and provide financial management, organizational leadership, stability and consensus-building.
The next superintendent must understand District 65 and the role the person would be stepping into. The board said that while the final decision belongs to board members, the process should reflect "the voices, experiences, and priorities from all facets of our community."
According to the message, Alma has experience creating inclusive and accessible opportunities for stakeholder involvement, including during the finalist stage. The board said it views the search as an investment in the future of District 65 and is aiming to identify a leader who can bring people together around a shared vision for students and schools.
