EVANSTON, Ill. – A surprisingly mellow pack of about 30 pups and their people gathered on the East Lawn of the historic Harley Clarke Mansion Aug. 30 for Harley Barke, a free community event celebrating the tail end of National Dog Month.
Set against Harley Clarke's lakefront backdrop, the event began with a 20-minute guided meditation led by Sarah Rulseh, of Heaven Meets Earth Yoga Studio, giving dogs and their humans a chance to slow down, relax and spend some quality time together. A social hour followed, with drinks, dog treats and plenty of mingling among two- and four-legged guests.
"We weren't quite sure what to expect, but the dogs seemed really relaxed, and tails were definitely wagging," said Scott Henry, Principal and CEO, Celadon Partners.

Harley Barke is one of a growing lineup of community events taking place at Harley Clarke as the historic property once again becomes a gathering place for the community. Events continue throughout Labor Day weekend and into the Fall, with live music, food, and other entertainment on the lawn.
