Evanston Police say they've located the vehicle and driver in a neighboring town and are continuing to investigate while traffic has since returned to normal.

Two more candidates to run for District 65 school board (evanstonroundtable.com) β Two more Evanston/Skokie District 65 residents, Natika Washington and Danny Orrock, have launched campaigns for the three school board seats on the April 2027 ballot. Both emphasize academics, finances, and community voice, with Washington drawing on military and policy experience and Orrock highlighting his family's transition after Kingsley's closure and his focus on careful financial and technology decisions.

Nicholas 'Nick' Rehwaldt, 'political junkie,' with sharp wit dies at 37 (evanstonroundtable.com) β Evanston is mourning Nicholas "Nick" Rehwaldt, a 37-year-old ETHS graduate remembered for his sharp wit, political curiosity, and wide-ranging interests from journalism to juggling. His life included global travel, community volunteering, and deep engagement with politics, even while managing schizoaffective disorder. A memorial service is planned Oct. 23 at St. Pauls United Church of Christ in Chicago.

5. Goin' to the Chapel (evanstonnow.com) β Northwestern's Alice Millar Chapel has its massive stained-glass window fully restored, with scaffolding finally removed after months of careful work. Evanston residents attending services, concerts, or campus events there will again see the chapel's signature artwork as it looked before storm damage, with original glass painstakingly reinstalled and the building remaining open throughout the renovation.
