Armed Robbery At Evanston CVS

A man brought a bag of Cheetos to the register, brandished a gun and demanded cash.

EVANSTON, IL — Police are investigating an armed robbery that took place Saturday morning at an Evanston drugstore. Around 6:10 a.m. on St. Patrick's Day, a man collected a bag of Cheetos from the snack aisle at the CVS at 101 Asbury Ave. and brought it to the register, the store's cashier told police.

Instead of paying, the apparent customer pulled aside his jacket to display a black handgun with a silver slide, police said.

The cashier opened the register and handed over less than $200 in cash and the man ran out of the store. He fled northbound on Ashbury Avenue before turning west on Dobson Street, according to police.
