Art Discussions Planned at Coffee Shops in Evanston

Informal talks scheduled at four popular Evanston coffee shops in September.

EVANSTON, IL - Art and coffee have always made for an inspiring mix.

And since Evanston has no shortage of either, a program will begin next month for lovers of both.

Jennifer Lasik, Evanston's cultural arts coordinator, has organized weekly informal "drop-in" conversations at local coffee shops.

An Evanston ARTscape news release says art lovers are welcome to come and discuss "projects, policy, the arts council, arts philosophy and trends."

The tentative schedule of 'java' talks will begin on Thursday, Sept. 8 with a meeting at The Brothers K Coffeehouse, 500 Main St. from 1-3 p.m.

The talks will continue the following week on Tuesday, Sept. 13 from 10 a.m. to noon at Backlot Coffee, 2012 Central St., then on Tuesday, Sept. 20 from 3-5 p.m. at Coffee Lab, 910 Noyes St. and again on Wednesday, Sept. 29 from 9-11 a.m. at Curt's Cafe South, 1813 Dempster St.
