Evanstonians Speak Out: The Best Coffee in Town

An Evanston Patch Facebook question on the best coffee in the city generates several responses.

Evanston is an on the go city.

So it’s no surprise to see the number of places popping up around town that offer coffee. There are seven Starbucks - one for every 10,000 or so city residents - and numerous lesser known joints where locals have long enjoyed the start of the day.

So we at Patch became interested in the best coffee in town. We know there are a lot to choose from, with good choices prevalent in every neighborhood, every ward.

But fans of Evanston Patch on Facebook were not shy about letting us know their favorite. Even of the answer happened to be, “my kitchen.”

“The Upstairs Cafe at the Central St. Metra station!” Kevin Jones proudly stated.

Anna Smith opted for a place on the far other end of town.

“Brothers K all the way!” she said.

Curt’s Cafe and Curt’s Cafe South both got some love. As did Patisserie Coralie, which - according to Kristin Andrews - has the best Julius Meinl coffee in town.

Leonidas, Hoosier Mama’s, the new Little Beans Cafe, Peet’s, the Coffee Lab on Noyes, Unicorn Cafe and Other Brother were other popular choices.

The always positive Central Street, Evanston Facebook page had some good suggestions.

Linz and Vail! Leonidas Chocolate Cafe! Curt’s Cafe! too many to count,” their post read.

In the end, it was Curt’s Cafe receiving the most votes. But lets keep the discussion going. Comment here with your favorite or post it to our Facebook poll here.
