The Auxiliary of NorthShore University HealthSystem Launches 2nd Annual Diaper Drive for Families in Need

Now through January 13, 2015

Since its inception in 1936, The Auxiliary of NorthShore University HealthSystem (NorthShore) has been a lifeline for NorthShore’s hospitals and programs, raising in excess of $20 million. In its ongoing show of commitment and support, the volunteer organization is currently running its 2nd Annual Diaper Drive, collecting vital resources for NorthShore’s Perinatal Family Support Center.

“The response from the public has been wonderful,” said Claudine Gerbel, president of the The Auxiliary. “We’ve collected 3,000 diapers so far, and are hoping to reach our goal of 3,500 before the diaper drive ends on January 13th,” she adds. “We’re extremely grateful for the generosity of our community,” she continues. “The diapers will be used by the 1,800+ families who rely on the services and support offered by The Perinatal Support Center each and every year.”

The Perinatal Family Support Center provides a wide array of services to women and their families who experience challenges related to pregnancy, birth, prematurity or perinatal loss. Using a relationship-focused model of care, social workers work hand-in-hand with nurses and physicians to provide patients and families with assessment, crisis intervention, emotional support and linkage to community resources, while promoting family stability. All perinatal care services of the Perinatal Family Support Center are provided free of charge.

Anyone who would like to donate diapers can do so by dropping them at The Auxiliary offices, which are located at 1033 University Place, Suite 450 in Evanston. The diaper drive concludes on Tuesday, January 13th.
