Beaches Closed in Evanston Today
Bacteria means no swimming on the first day of July.
Evanston, IL - All beaches in the city of Evanston are closed today - Friday, July 1 - with high levels of bacteria.
People (and dogs at the Dog Beach) will still be allowed on the sand area, but the waters will be off limits at Lighthouse, Clark Street, Dempster/Greenwood, Lee Street, South Boulevard and the dog beaches, according to a city memo.
Big waves and possible rip currents are also a problem at beaches throughout Lake Michigan on Friday.
