High school students in Evanston have a special opportunity this summer to get paid while they learn about business.
High school students in Evanston have a special opportunity this summer to get paid while they learn about business. The Youth Entrepreneurship Summer or YES! Camp, which began last summer as a pilot program for 20 youth, is coming back to Evanston this summer.
At YES! Camp, youth find out what it takes to start and develop a business. Participants learn from top business professionals and entrepreneurs how they turned their ideas into successful businesses. Then, the youth work on their own business plans. At the end of the summer, the youth present their business ideas in front of a panel of judges with the chance to win prizes. Students even get paid a weekly stipend based on their active participation in the program.
The Camp is based on recent studies that show that entrepreneurship education is highly effective in improving academic and career outcomes for youth. The Camp runs from June 19th to July 26th from 1:30-4:30pm daily at ETHS. The Camp is sponsored by Youth Organizations Umbrella.
