Central Street Streetscape Will Begin Next Week
Construction will alter traffic from Lincolnwood Drive to Ewing Avenue in Evanston.

Beginning the week of August 17, the City of Evanston will be contracting streetscape improvements on Central Street, from Lincolnwood Drive to Ewing Avenue. The project will include the replacement of the existing sidewalk with a new concrete sidewalk and a brick border; installation of new roadway curbing; and installation of tree frames and grates.
As part of this project, sidewalk bump outs will be constructed at Ewing Ave. and Central St. to improve pedestrian safety. Construction will be completed over an eight-week period.

The actual date when construction is planned will be noted on the temporary “NO PARKING” signs posted 48 hours prior to the start of the work. During construction, one lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained on Central St. Allowances have been made to maintain pedestrian access to businesses on Central Street for the duration of construction.
Street sweeping and/or neighborhood parking restrictions will be waived for a one-block radius around the construction zone.
