Where To Find Cooling Centers In Evanston During Extreme Heat Wave

The National Weather Service issued an extreme heat warning for the entire Chicagoland area as forecasters predict dangerous conditions.

EVANSTON, IL — Dangerous heat and humidity will hit Evanston this week, according to the National Weather Service, with highs well into the 90s and peak temperatures of up to 105 degrees likely.

The National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat warning in Cook County. Conditions are expected to get dangerously hot and humid starting Monday through late Wednesday, forecasters said.

"The magnitude of anticipated heat, combined with oppressive warmth at night will lead to hazardous conditions, particularly for the elderly and those with pre-existing health conditions," forecasters said.

    • Only open Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

  • Levy Senior Center - 300 Dodge Ave.
  • Prieto Community Center - 430 Asbury Ave.

While forecasters advise staying indoors during this heatwave, people who must be outside are encouraged to exercise caution. Officials recommend drinking plenty of fluids and checking in on relatives and neighbors.
