EVANSTON, IL — The following information comes from the Evanston Police Department as a record of those arrested by police and incidents reported to police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges, which represent merely accusations by the state, are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. All persons named are innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS

HOME/COMMERCIAL BURGLARIES

  • Someone got into a restaurant in the 2500 block of Prairie Avenue between 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 19 and 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 20 and stole electronics and cash from inside.
  • A house of worship in the 1400 block of Oak Avenue was burglarized between 2:20 and 11 p.m. on Feb. 26 when someone broke a rear window and stole a laptop and computer hardware.
  • A burglar got into a garage in the 2700 block of Garrison Avenue and stole unspecified items between midnight on Feb. 25 and 5 p.m. on Feb. 26.
  • Someone forced open a back door and stole jewelry, cosmetics and various other property from a condo unit in the 200 block of Custer Avenue between 11 a.m. on Feb. 26 and 12:37 p.m. on March 1.
  • Between 9:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. on March 1, someone burglarized a condo unit in the 100 block of Callan Avenue after getting in through an unlocked window. Someone also stole bicycles and a grill from the common area of a condo building on the block prior to 8 p.m. on March 1.
  • Someone attempted to burglarize a store in the 2900 block of Central Street between 6:30 p.m. on March 2 and 10 a.m. on March 4 by removing a skylight.
  • Between 2 p.m. March 1 and 10 a.m. March 4, someone got into an office building in the 800 block of Austin Street and stole unspecified items.
  • Someone broke open the back door to an apartment in the 100 block of Ashland Avenue around 6 p.m. on March 4 and stole jewelry, appliances, cash and photo IDs.
  • A burglar got into an apartment in the 1900 block of Jackson Avenue through a broken window between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. on March 8 and stole unspecified items.
  • Someone forced entry into an apartment in the 100 block of Clyde Avenue between 8:10 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. on March 12 and stole various office equipment.
  • A burglar tried to get into an apartment unit and an apartment storage area in the 200 block of Ridge Avenue between 7 and 8 p.m. but nothing was taken.
  • Someone tried to burglarize a retirement home on March 16 through attempts to life up screens to windows. Nothing was reported stolen.
  • Someone stole a game console from inside a single-family home in the 2000 block of Emerson Street after entering through an unlocked window.

AGGRAVATED ROBBERY
A person displayed a box cutter and stole various merchandise from a department store around 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 21 in the 2200 block of Howard Street.

STOLEN CARS

  • Someone stole a 2017 Hyundai that had been parked in the 900 block of Harvard Terrace between 5 p.m. on March 1 and noon on March 2.
  • Someone stole a 2019 Ford from a business in the 1800 block of Maple Avenue between Jan. 11 and March 6 after keys were issued to a customer.

ARMED ROBBERY
Someone brandished a gun and demanded property from a person in a vehicle around 9:30 p.m. on March 15 in the area of Simpson Street and Maple Avenue, stealing cash, clothing and a cell phone.

ARRESTS

Bernadette D. Earthely, 36, of the 2000 block of Pratt Court, Evanston, was arrested at 7:20 p.m. on Feb. 20 and charged with domestic battery.

Nicholas B. Bachelder, 27, of the 100 block of Clyde Avenue, Evanston, was arrested at 7:41 p.m. on Feb. 20 at his home and charged with domestic battery.

Steven E. Janson, 51, of the 900 block of Judson Avenue, Evanston, was arrested around 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 21 in the 1600 block of Benson Avenue and charged with battery.

Dwayne V. Johnson, 28, of the 1800 block of Brown Avenue, Evanston, was arrested at 1:10 p.m. on Feb. 21 in the 2400 block of Main Street and charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. Read more...

Roxanne K. Northam, 54, of the 200 block of Ridge Avenue, Evanston, was arrested at 5:38 p.m. on Feb. 21 and charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute.

Sergio A. Ramos, 24, of the 1900 block of Jackson Avenue, Evanston, was arrested at 11:44 p.m. on Feb. 21 and charged with DUI in the area of McCormick Boulevard and Emerson Street. He was arrested again at 1 a.m. on Feb. 22 in the 2600 block of Ridge Avenue and charged with battery.

Blendia K. Hubbard, 27, of the 5900 block of Eastlawn Street, Detroit, was arrested at 5:11 p.m. on Feb. 22 and charged with DUI in the area of Howard Street and Dodge Avenue.

Marquis R. Terrell, 50, of the 700 block of Dobson Street, Evanston, was arrested at 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 24 and charged with domestic battery.

William D. Thomas, 38, of the 2100 block of Emerson Street, Evanston, was arrested at 6:10 p.m. on Feb. 25 in the 500 block of Howard Street and charged with domestic battery.

Maurice P. Bailey, 30, of the 200 block of Dodge Avenue, Evanston, was arrested at 6:41 p.m. on Feb. 25 in the 2300 block of Emerson Street and charged with the manufacture or delivery of cannabis.

Terry A. Hobbs, 23, of the 7500 block of North Wolcott Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 26 at the Evanston Police Department and charged with theft and theft of lost or misplaced property.

Jose V. Sanchez, 68, of the 3100 block of North Sawyer Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 26 in the 2100 block of McDaniel Avenue and charged with DUI.

Philip J. Lewis, 30, of the 900 block of Sherman Avenue, Evanston, was arrested at 5:48 p.m. on Feb. 26 in the 500 block of Howard Street and charged with domestic battery.

Sharon J. Willens, 64, of the 7000 block of North Hamlin Avenue, Lincolnwood, was arrested at 9:20 p.m. on Feb. 26 at the Skokie Courthouse and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Antoine J. Thomas, 38, of the 3200 block of West 84th Place, Chicago, was arrested at 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 27 in the 600 block of Mulford Street and charged with assault.

Shawn A. Smith, 44, of the 1800 block of Ridge Avenue, Evanston, was arrested at 3:35 p.m. on Feb. 27 at his home and charged with domestic battery.

Arturo Alvarado-Mejia, 36, of the 6000 block of North Mozart Street, Chicago, was arrested at 5:34 p.m. on Feb. 28 in the area of Dempster Street and Dodge Avenue and charged with DUI.

Calvin J. Utley, 19, of the 2100 block of Brown Avenue, Evanston, was arrested at 11:45 p.m. on March 3 at his home and charged with domestic battery.

Kathryn J. Bayley, 28, of the 500 block of Elmwood Avenue, Evanston, was arrested at 1:23 a.m. on March 4 in the 900 block of Seward Street and charged with DUI.

Alejandro Suarez, 44, of the 1800 block of Lyons Street, Evanston, was arrested around 2 p.m. on March 4 and charged with possession of controlled substance following a traffic stop in the area of Ridge Avenue and Dobson Street where he was a passenger.

Jean Johnson, 60, of the 6100 block of North Hoyne Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 8 p.m. on March 4 in the area of Church Street and Wesley Avenue and charged with DUI.

David Rennie, 71, of the 4900 block of North Kenmore Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at his home at 12:21 p.m. on March 5 and charged with battery in connection with an incident on a District 65 school bus. Read more...

Denise A. Gaines, 31, of the 200 block of Callan Avenue, Evanston, was arrested around noon on March 6 at the Evanston Police Department and charged with aggravated battery of a child aged 12 or under.

Robert D. McLuckie, 65, of the 300 block of Ridge Avenue, Evanston, was arrested at 12:21 p.m. on March 7 and charged with possession of ammunition without a valid FOID card in the 2000 block of Greenwood Avenue.

Marcelino Pichardo, 35, of the 7500 block of North Ridge Boulevard, Chicago, was arrested at 8:17 p.m. on March 9 in the area of Madison Street and Elmwood Avenue and charged with DUI.

Rodrigo Renteria, 23, of the 1200 block of Fowler Avenue, Evanston, was arrested at 7:51 p.m. on March 16 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.\

Christopher A. Howard, 24, of the 800 block of Chicago Avenue, Evanston, was arrested around 8:30 p.m. on March 16 in the area of Main Street and Judson Avenue and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Thomas M. Hoover, 63, of the 2100 block of Forestview Road, Evanston, was arrested at 11:55 p.m. on March 16 in the 2100 block of Lincolnwood Drive and charged with DUI.

Jason T. Jarvis, 30, of the 800 block of North Lasalle Drive, Chicago, was arrested at 1:16 a.m. on March 17 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Terry D. Trammel, 37, of the 3400 block of West Jarvis Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 7:20 a.m. on March 17 in the 500 block of Main Street and charged with aggravated battery.

Victoria L. Morrison, 51, of the 1400 block of Brummel Street, Evanston, was arrested at 5:44 a.m. on March 18 at her home and charged with battery.
