City Of Evanston: Holiday Light Recycling Program Begins Dec. 1

All holiday string lighting is accepted through this free program. Garlands, live greens and wreaths are not accepted.

The City of Evanston's annual holiday light recycling program will be held from Wednesday, December 1, 2021 through Monday, January 31, 2022 in conjunction with the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC) and Elgin Recycling.

Lights can be dropped off at the following Evanston locations during their operating hours:

  • Evanston Ecology Center, 2024 McCormick Blvd.
  • Levy Senior Center, 300 Dodge Ave.
  • Robert Crown Community Center, 1801 Main St.

Face coverings are required when dropping items off at City facilities.
