Conflict of Interest Closed Evanston Giordano's: Statement
Statement claims owner Ted Mavrakis owned competing restaurants while operating the Chicago Avenue location.

Giordano’s plans to reopen their branch in Evanston and says the reason the Chicago Avenue restaurant closed last week was due to the owner violating agreements by “owning and operating several competing restaurants,” the Daily Northwestern reported.
The Daily shares some of Giordano’s official statement on the matter, which indicates the American Arbitration Association terminated the franchise agreements that allowed 1527 Chicago Ave. building owner Ted Mavrakis the rights to operate the branch.
Mavrakis, who also owned the Morton Grove branch which will also close, called the closing “a long story” when it was originally reported.
