Cops Arrest Chicago Man Who Ditched Handgun

A man on parole fled police and was Tasered just before his arrest Wednesday night.

Evanston, IL - A Chicago man on parole was caught ditching a handgun in some bushes near the Evanston border and was arrested shortly after.

Police in Evanston arrested Valgas Etheard, 22 Wednesday night just after 10:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Howard Street. A report indicated Etheard was was on a bicycle and was noticed "adjusting an object in his waistband" before police stopped him.

While being questioned, Etheard fled northbound on the bike, fell off and ran westbound on foot according to police.

As he was running, Etheard was seen ducking down near a bush, make a throwing motion and immediately get up and change his direction running southbound directly at one of the officers.

The officer deployed his Taser, and arrested Etheard right away. A Lorcin .25 caliber handgun was recovered from the bush area.

Etheard was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by felon, obstructing a peace officer and other charges.
