UPDATE: Red Line Service Resumes After Train Derails Near Granville

Shuttle buses are still being operated.


Service has been fully restored on the red line after a train derailed near the Granville stop Saturday afternoon.

Service was temporarily suspended between Howard and Belmont after the train derailed around 2 p.m., according to the CTA. Partial service was restored throughout the day with full service being restored just before 7 p.m.

All passengers on board were evacuated and one person taken to the hospital with a shoulder injury, NBC Chicago reports citing fire officials.

As an alternative, passengers were asked to use the 36, 147 or 151 buses. The CTA also provided shuttle buses for affected commuters.
