DUI Crackdown Nets 1 Arrest in Evanston
Only one drunk driver found in Evanston over two-week span.

The Evanston Police Department’s crackdown on drunk driving from Nov. 16-29 yielded only one DUI arrest, but several citations for other infractions were issued during that time span.
During the “Click It or Ticket” mobilization that included a focus on impaired drivers, the Evanston Police Department issued:
- 57 Seat belt citations
- 1 DUI arrest
- 3 Suspended/revoked licenses
- 10 Uninsured motorists
- 18 Speeding citations
- 34 Distracted Driving/Cell Phone citations
- 1 Possession of Cannabis Arrest
- 26 Other traffic related citations
“Our officers are out all year long. If you or your passengers are caught not wearing a seat belt, day or night, you will be cited for the safety violation,” said Sgt. Tracy Williams, the department’s Traffic Bureau Supervisor.
