EFD Promotes Brian Scott to Deputy Chief

16-year veteran of the department will begin in new role later this month.

Evanston Fire Department Division Chief Brian Scott has been promoted to the Deputy Chief of Operations and Fire Prevention.

Fire Chief Greg Klaiber made the announcement on Friday that Scott would begin in his new role on September 21. He will direct and lead fire suppression operations and manage the Department’s fire prevention bureau.

“Deputy Chief Scott is a proven leader,” said Klaiber. “In the last year and a half he has led efforts to improve fire suppression training, implement our Strategic Plan, update the Department’s Standard Operating Guidelines (SOGs), and revise departmental rules and regulations.”

He possesses “the experience, leadership and vision to bring a constructive and positive culture of professionalism and accountability to the Evanston Fire Department,” the chief added.

Scott has been with the department since 199, and in 2006 was promoted to Fire Captain/Paramedic. He was Co-Chair of the Department’s Training Committee, EMS Committee Member, Rescue Dive Team Member and is currently a Field Instructor for the Illinois Fire Service Institute in Urbana-Champaign.
