Emerson St. Shooting Could Be Related to Fatal in August
Police chief says an incident which injured a 45-year-old man may have been in retaliation.

Tuesday afternoon’s shooting in the 1900 block of Emerson Street in Evanston appears to be related to last month’s fatal shooting of a Niles man.
At least four assailants walked up to the rear of the Emerson house around 5:30 p.m. and opened fire, according to Evanston Now. An exchange of gunfire ensued, and one 45-year-old Evanston man was left critically injured and transported to Evanston Hospital. It does not appear the victim of this shooting was the intended victim.
Police Chief Richard Eddington says this could be in retaliation for the August shooting of 23-year-old Donte Blackwell of Niles, who was shot in the torso on Dodge Avenue near Lyons Street and later died.
