ETHS girls take next step, reach bowling sectional

Kits keep season alive behind Christon, Landolt

Evanston’s girls bowling team scored a 4th place finish Saturday at the Resurrection Regional tournament, earning the first trip to the sectional level in program history.

Top four finishers Resurrection (5409), Niles North (5164), New Trier (5039) and ETHS (4894) automatically advanced to next Saturday’s sectional hosted by Hoffman Estates at Poplar Creek Bowl.

The Wildkits advanced out of the 12-team field behind the 1-2 punch of junior Genevieve Christon and senior Zoe Landolt. Christon placed 12th in the individual standings with a total pinfall of 1,038, just ahead of teammate Landolt at 1,036. Niles North freshman Kailina Lainez claimed the individual title with a 6-game score of 1,200.

Next best for Evanston were freshman Raivyn Summers at 953, including 5 straight strikes in Game 3; junior Anne Volt Porter at 951; and junior Asya Wright at 921.
