Evanston Cops Recover Gun Off Streets of Chicago

Evanston police found a loaded Beretta after taking down a teenage boy on the Chicago side of the border Thursday night.

EVANSTON, IL - Police officers who are a part of the Evanston Police Department's tactical unit played a key role in removing a gun off the streets of crime-ridden Chicago Thursday night.

Evanston police were looking for a 16-year-old boy they knew who was wanted for questioning in an incident that occurred there in August of this year, according to a police report. When they found him near Marshfield Avenue and Jonquil Terrace in Chicago around 7 p.m., the boy fled on foot but was taken down nearby in the 7600 block of north Bosworth Avenue.

In making the arrest, police found a loaded Beretta 9mm handgun and about 10 grams of what's believed to be cannabis on the boy.

The boy was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful use of a weapon with no firearm owner's identification card and possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and turned over to the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center.
