Evanston Launches Online Tool To Gather Input On Planned Developments
Evanston's Community Development Department has launched a trial of the "coUrbanize" tool to gather public input on building projects.

EVANSTON, IL — Evanston is launching an online tool to gather input from the public on new development projects. The tool, called coUrbanize, will be used on a trial basis through the rest of the year and may be expanded next year. The first project it is soliciting comments on: the planned 16-story, 287-unit commercial and residential construction proposed for 1450-1508 Sherman Avenue, atop the current site of Prairie Moon restaurant and Tommy Nevins pub.
coUrbanize allows community members to offer their feedback on planned development projects, even if they aren't able to attend public meetings to provide comments in person, according to the city. The tool makes it easy to review project documents and timelines, add ideas and suggestions, receive email and text message updates on projects, and share information on social media, both before and during the development process.
“As Evanston continues to progress, it’s important that the City’s planning process is more accessible to more residents,” said Mayor Stephen Hagerty. “We want more voices to be heard as we build Evanston's future."
