Evanston Limits Areas Where Gun Ranges Could Open
Ordinance passed by aldermen allows for only five possible locations in the city.

An ordinance that limits the sale of firearms to gun ranges and limits the areas where those businesses could locate in the city was passed unanimously by the Evanston City Council Monday night.
The ordinance bars firearm ranges from being located within 350 feet of an R1, R2 or R3 zoning district or school, child day care facility or public park, according to Evanston Now. This means the only possible locations for a gun range in Evanston would be along the former Mayfair rail line in west Evanston and at the CTA rail yard on Howard Street.
