Evanston Man Killed In Hainesville 'Domestic' Shooting

The 38-year-old was identified by the Lake County Coroner Monday.

HAINESVILLE, IL — A man found fatally shot in Hainesville Friday night has been identified as a 38-year-old Evanston resident. Raphel D. Speed, 38, of the 2000 block of Oakton Street, was found face down in a driveway Friday night, taken to hospital and pronounced dead. The Lake County Major Crimes Task force has been called to assist with the investigation and Grayslake police say the shooting is related to domestic violence, the Lake County News-Sun reported.

Lake County Coroner Howard Cooper confirmed Speed died of a gunshout wound and toxicology results are pending. Grayslake Police Chief Phillip Perlini, whose department patrols Hainesville, told the News-Sun everyone involved has been or is being questioned.

Police were called to the 100 block of West Big Horn Drive at 11:26 p.m. on Friday, where they said they found a man, identified as Speed, face down in a driveway and three people standing outside. Speed was pronounced dead at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville at 12:35 a.m. on Saturday, Perlini said.
