Elderly Evanston Woman Carjacked On Sheridan Road: Police

Police are investigating a report of a "bump-and-run" carjacking at Sheridan and Davis Thursday.

EVANSTON, IL — An elderly woman was carjacked Thursday afternoon in a "bump-and-run" incident on Sheridan Road at Davis Street in Evanston, police said. The 84-year-old Evanston woman was driving north in a gray 2011 Lexus around 2 p.m. when she was rear-ended by a black Acura.

The woman and one of the occupants of the Acura both got out of their cars after the collision, according to Cmdr. Ryan Glew. But instead of exchanging information, the person who got out of the rear-ending vehicle got into the woman's Lexus and drove away north on Sheridan. The black Acura followed the woman's stolen car.

The woman was not injured. Along with her car, the carjackers made off with her purse with house keys, credit cards and $200, according to police. Both suspects were described as black teenaged boys wearing gray hoodies, police said.
