15-Year-Old Accused Of Carjacking 84-Year-Old Evanston Woman
The Chicago teen was already in custody on separate stolen vehicle and weapons charges when Evanston detectives arrested him.

EVANSTON, IL — Police said they have found one of two carjackers who stole a car from an elderly woman earlier this month, and he was already in custody on separate charges at the time of his arrest. Detectives took a 15-year-old Chicago boy who was being held at the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center to the Evanston Police Department Tuesday and charged him with aggravated vehicular hijacking, according to a news release.
The teen was allegedly driving an Acura that rear-ended the 84-year-old Evanston resident's shortly after 2 p.m. on Feb. 1 as she drove north on Sheridan Road at Davis. He got out and spoke with the woman before his passenger jumped into her Lexus and they both drove away, according to police.
Detectives found the Lexus abandoned in the 5800 block of South Peoria Street in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood on Feb. 4. Police said no additional information about the Acura has developed.
