Evanston Police Officer Hit By Truck While Directing Traffic
The female officer was hospitalized Saturday after she was pinned under the truck at Emerson and Dodge.

EVANSTON, IL - A female Evanston police officer was hit by a construction truck Saturday morning.
The officer was taken to Evanston Hospital after the accident at Emerson Street and Dodge Avenue at 9:40 a.m., according to an Evanston Now report. The intersection remains blocked off as of 11:30 a.m.
The report states the officer - a 19-year veteran of the Evanston Police Department - was pinned under the the front wheels of the truck but avoided any major injuries.

Traffic signals were out at the intersection at the time of the accident. The officer was opening stop signs to assist in traffic control at the time. When she crossed the street on foot, she was hit by the truck.
