Evanston Ranked Among Smartest Small Towns in America

EVANSTON, IL - Evanston joined a host of other national college towns on a recent list of the smartest small towns in America.

The study put forth by Top Value Reviews last week lists Evanston at the No. 9 smartest small town in the nation.

Several other college towns joined Evanston in the Top Ten. Many are on the east coast and west coast, but Bloomington, Ind. was able to crack the top five at No. 4. Evanston was the next highest rated Big Ten city.

“Evanston has some of the most colleges and universities per capita in the entire country,” the website wrote about Evanston. “Forty-four percent of its population has a bachelor’s degree, while 39% have graduate degrees.”

The study consisted of analyzing U.S. Census Bureau data on the educational levels of hundreds of places with less than 100,000 people.
