Former ETHS Substitute Teacher Charged With Child Porn

EVANSTON, IL - A man who served as a substitute teacher at Evanston High School for one day earlier this year has been charged with felony possession of child pornography.

The arrest of 60-year-old Robert Hornish of Chicago concluded an investigation that began in March when a student found an unattended cell phone that contained inappropriate images that appeared to involve underage people, the Evanston Review reported.

The student found the phone on March 4 - Hornish’s first day working as a substitute at the school - and looked through it to help figure out its owner, according to the Cook County State’s Attorney Office.

While looking through it, the student found images of possible sexual content involving young people. He alerted school authorities, who told police.

After the phone was sent to a Forensics laboratory, police executed a search warrant at Hornish’s residence where they recovered a laptop and other electronic devices.

Hornish is being held on $200,000 bail.
