Gas Leak Reported, Fire Crews On Scene

EVANSTON, IL — Firefighters are on the scene of a gas leak at Hartrey Street and Colfax Avenue Monday afternoon. The Evanston Fire Department is monitoring the scene and awaiting the arrival of crews from Nicor Gas, the city announced. City staff said the broken gas main presented no danger to the public. Residents were asked to avoid the area.

City officials announced around 4 p.m. that the leak had been stopped and crews remained on scene conducting repairs.
