Good to Go a No Go in Evanston
Popular Rogers Park Jamaican food stop won't move to Evanston as negotiations with city break down.

EVANSTON, IL - Plans for the Good to Go Jamaican restaurant on the Rogers Park side of Howard Street to cross the street and enter the suburban world that is Evanston have stalled, according to an Evanston Now report. A dispute over ownership and funding have reportedly collapsed negotiations.
The restaurant had initial plans to move into the former Evanston Police Outpost building at 633 Howard St., but the business owners wanted a $150,000 contribution from the city of Evanston in addition to a new roof-top deck and an agreement paving the way for them to purchase the building in the future.
City officials plans for the location were for either a new restaurant concept or a replication of an existing one, not a relocation like Good to Go had planned.

While the Evanston side of Howard Street has seen an uptick in new businesses in recent years such as the Peckish Pig and Ward Eight, activity at the Police Outpost spot will be on hold as of now.
“Selling the property at this time is premature,” City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz said.
