Halloween Events and Trick-or-Treat Hours on the North Shore

Find out when trick-or-treating is welcomed in your community and what other fun Halloween events are planned.

DEERFIELD - Halloween Hoopla returns to Jewett Park Community Center, on Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24 with new activities and entertainers, inflatables, rides and great give-aways. From 7-9 p.m. on Friday, the event will feature a bonfire and movie in the park. From 7-9 p.m. Saturday, enjoy inflatables in the park including human foosball and laser tag, a disc jockey and a bonfire. On Saturday from 3-6 p.m bring out the family. Kids of all ages love this event which includes crazy fun inflatables and other rides, a haywagon trip around the park, carnival games with prizes, balloon twisters, face-painters, costumed characters, craft room, Dave Herzog’s Marionettes and Dot Kane from Stories with Dot for storytelling. There is a fee for wristbands to enjoy all the indoor/outdoor activities.

Deerfield residents are also invited to the “Downtown Trick-or-Treat” event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24. Sponsored by the Deerfield Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Deerfield merchants with orange pumpkin signs in their windows welcome children to trick or treat their stores. EVANSTON - The City of Evanston’s official trick or treating time is from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, October 31. Call 847-448-4311 with any questions.

The Evanston Ecology Center, located at 2024 McCormick Blvd., invites residents to participate in its annual Bug-A-Boo Halloween Walk on Saturday, October 24.

This year’s event will showcase the creepy, gross and scary misfits of the animal world. Participants will learn fun facts about the animals, discuss myths, learn why each of them has an important place in the world, and meet them (costumed volunteers) outside as they travel around the Ladd Arboretum. Activities and snacks will be provided at the Ecology Center following the walk.

Participants are asked to register all attending family members. The cost is $5 per person for residents; $7 for non-residents.

GLENCOE - Trick-or-Treat hours in Glencoe will be Saturday, October 31 from 2:-5:30 p.m.

GLENVIEW - Trick-or-treat hours in Glenview are 3-7 p.m. on Saturday, October 31.

Spooktacular, Glenview Park District’s “not-too-scary” Halloween tradition,” will be from 5:30-8 p.m. on Friday, October 16 at Park Center, 2400 Chestnut Ave. Park Center will be transformed into an indoor Halloween party with inflatables to rattle your bones, ghoulish games, creepy crafts, face painting, fake tattoos and elaborate Halloween decorations. The event is designed for ages 2-10 years, but all are welcome. Costumes are optional. The fee is $5 per child, admission is paid at the door and parents must accompany their children. HIGHLAND PARK - Trick-or-treat hours in Highland Park are from 3-7 p.m. on Saturday, October 31.

LAKE FOREST - On Friday, October 30 from 5-7 p.m., the city of Lake Forest offers its residents to celebrate Halloween at the Rec Center. Age appropriate activities, including a haunted house, spooky games, a haunted hayride and more will provide plenty of fun for Lake Forest preschoolers through third graders and parents. The free event is sponsored by Forest Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry.

Trick-or-treating is on Saturday, October 31, from 4-8 p.m. Parents are urged to accompany young children and use the sidewalk. If there is no sidewalk, use the left side of the road facing the flow of traffic.

LINCOLNWOOD - Lincolnwood Town Center’s annual Boo Bash will take place on Saturday, October 31. Children are invited to show-off their most creative, spookiest and best costumes in this safe, indoor, air-conditioned and entertaining alternative to traditional outdoor Halloween activities will offer free trick-or-treating fun the whole family can enjoy. Attendees will enjoy storytelling and then a dance party, featuring a DJ, games and prizes.

A “Sweets Stroll” will take place from noon to 2 p.m., with storytelling by the Lincolnwood Public Library set to begin at 12:30 p.m. A dance party will take place between 1-3 p.m.

NORTHBROOK - Trick-or-treating is permitted in Northbrook on Saturday, October 31. Suggested hours are from 3-8 p.m. To welcome trick-or-treaters, switch on your porch lights or any exterior light.

WILMETTE - Trick-or-treat hours are from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday, October 31 in Wilmette.

WINNETKA - Children may trick-or-treat from 2-5:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 31. Participating homeowners are encouraged to leave an outside light on to let children know they are welcome to visit.
