Home on Greenwood Street Catches Fire Tuesday

An Evanston family will be displaced after a Code 4 alarm blaze that broke out Tuesday afternoon.

EVANSTON, IL - A home on Greenwood Street in Evanston caught fire Tuesday afternoon.

Evanston fire companies responded to the 2000 block of the street at 2:47 p.m. and found smoke coming from the chimney of the two-story frame, single family house.

The family was at home at the time of the Code 4 alarm fire, but no one was injured. They will be displaced, however.

Firefighters extinguished the fire in less than a half-hour. An investigation revealed it started in a second floor bedroom.
