Illegal Gun Gets Son Misdemeanor, Mom Hit With Drug Felony
What began with a domestic battery call ended up with an unlicensed gun and illegal drugs, say Evanston police.

EVANSTON, IL — An unlicensed handgun and a small amount of drugs was found after Evanston cops received a call of a possible domestic battery shortly before 10 a.m. on April 1, police said. After a brief investigation turned up evidence of possible illegal guns, police sought and obtained a search warrant on an apartment on the 300 block of Custer Avenue.
After getting a warrant and searching the apartment, investigators found a 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun and about 1.3 grams of cocaine, police said. Police arrested and charged two people, the man who allegedly committed domestic battery and his mother.
Tyree Green, 22, was arrested and charged with four misdemeanors, aggravated domestic assault and battery and possession of an unlicensed gun and ammunition. His last known address was listed as the same Custer Avenue apartment to which police were called. His alleged victim, a 19-year-old woman, was uninjured, police said.

Kimberly Tillmon, 44, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance in connection with the cocaine that police allegedly found in the apartment. She also has a listed address at the same apartment building. She faces class 4 felony charges, while her son has been charged with misdemeanors, according to Evanston police.
Criminal charges represent merely accusations and can be dropped or reduced. An arrest is not an indication of guilt and all defendants are presumed innocent until their guilt is established beyond a reasonable doubt by a court of law.
